“I spent three months in quarantine at my house in Moscow. Ironically, the house I live in is also infamous for many of the incarcerations and executions during Stalin’s purges. Unable to photograph in the way I usually do – on the move – I installed a small table in my studio near the window from where, every day, between 3 and 5pm, the reflected light of the Moscovite sky enters. I have photographed objects that I have collected in previous trips or from other houses I have lived in, and, in a few “hours of air”, filmed the building of my house in the same light conditions. These objects tell only to me stories that I have already told with other images.” Inspired by “State of Emergency” Moscow, 2020. The House on the Embankment and the light in my studio.
